Back in time - Jade 7

I have made yet another baby layout of mine this week. This time I used a lot of girly stuff and it was so much fun. I usually don't get to use too much of it because I have two boys. I totally enjoyed using the pinks and oranges and flowers. I made this layout based on a sketch from scrapbooksteals by Kerys Sharrock, their talented designer.

This photo was taken by my father's friend who was very interested in photography. I am so lucky to have so many pictures at this age. What I love the most is that I am wearing all these cute dresses stitched by my grandmother in these photos. My grandmother had 8 kids and a lot of grand kids. She still found time to stitch clothes for all her grand kids. She also did such a wonderfully professional job of it. Some of my aunts picked up the skills from her. I remember trying to learn smocking from my grandmother when I was a kid but never really picked up any sewing. I wish I did.

Here is the photo that I scanned version of the original photo for this layout:
Here is how it looks after I fixed it with photoshop elements. ( I am still not sure if I did the right thing by using the Auto Color Correction. The reddish color cast kind of takes you back to the 70s when this photo was taken. But oh well, it is done now and the layout is made. I still have the original for another day!). I am still learning new things everyday with photoshop elements. The possibilities are endless. By the way, it is also quite time consuming to fix a scanned photo. But I am really happy that I am taking the time to do so. I am sending all these photos back to my parents and I can also pass them on to my kids to cherish.

Here  is my layout:

I used the following products:
  • Patterned paper and stickers: Sassafras - Love to learn collection
  • Twine : MME
  • Rhinestones : Scrapp'n supplies
  • Punches : American crafts - Knockout border punches
I buy most of my products from Scrapbook Steals. Check it out - they carry a deal a day and it is always amazing.

Another Baby Layout

It's been a long time since I have played along any of the mid week mojos. I miss the fun. I really loved this week's sketch and had to absolutely create a layout with it myself. Check out the layout and sketch by Kerys from scrapbook steals here.

Again, I used a baby photo of myself. Well, maybe toddler photo because I am two and half years old in this photo. I am so lucky to have color photos at that time in India because apparently, the color film had to be brought from U.S.A and sent back to the U.S.A for getting the photos developed. My uncle has been living here for a long time. So apparently the photos were taken by my dad's friend and then my uncle got them developed here and then sent them back to my parents in India. Oh my, what an effort. I wonder if I would have gone through this pain for my kids.

Here is my layout:

I used the following
  •  Paper - My Mind's eye - Follow your heart collection
  • Title Stickers - October Afternoon
  • Washi - Indie Chic from My Mind's eye
  • Templates - Tags 7, Tags 5, Rings 1 and Rings 2 from Kiwi Lanes Designs
Using the templates made it really easy to chose where I wanted to cut my paper. I could select the exact area that I felt suited the layout. I also plan on entering this layout into the Kiwi Lanes baby layout contest.

Baby Layout

I am back after a long break. The timing for the challenge at Kiwi Lanes to make a layout with your baby photo was perfect. My parents were visiting from India and I had asked them to get all my baby photos with them. I managed to scan all of them just before they left and then Kiwi Lanes announced the challenge. So now I could put perfect use to the scanned photos. A lot of the photos were kind of damaged and had developed spots mainly because they were stuck in different albums at different times with all sorts of glue ... to bad. But I managed to fix them quite well with photoshop elements. I used a tutorial that I found on the internet with google search. I am somewhere between 8 and 9 months in these photos. I don't always find it easy to scrapbook my own photos. Not sure why....

Here is my layout:

I used Tag Templates 3 and 4  from Kiwi Lanes to create the tags and the chevrons. I was quite inspired by Melissa Dehne's tips on the Kiwi Lanes blog. I also used Accents 2T to create the flower.
I used my Silhouette cameo for the first time on this layout. I cut out the words and the filmstrip with it.
