Amma and I - MWM Amber 8

I decided to use the Amy Tangerine - Ready Set Go collection for whatever layout I make next. So then I chose the appropriate photo that coordinated with this line. I used a photo of my mom and I taken during their recent visit to Santa Barbara. We had taken the kids to the zoo.

I had recently purchased the Read Set Go collection ( I know I am way late to the game) and was looking at all the different layouts that can be made with it. The possibilites seem endless. I really could appreciate the thought process and the talent behind this line when I started using it. I am total awe of Amy Tan's design capabilities. No wonder that she is so popular.

Here is the layout that I made for Mid Week Mojo - Amber 8 at Scrapbook Steals:

I pretty much stuck to using the Ready Set Go collection for everything except the enamel dots - they are from My Mind's Eye. I used them generously all over the layout. I love how easily the layout came together with this collection - I totally love it. For the journaling block I used Kiwi Lanes Sweetheart Accessory 4. I also did some misting with October Afternoon's Farmhouse Sprinkler.
Hope you like it, I totally enjoyed making it.
Leave me comments, they make my day :)

Accordion Fold Mini Book Class

I am so excited to be teaching my first class ever for a fundraiser for Evergreen school. This class is open to anyone interested even if your child does not go to Evergreen school.

In the class, you will learn to assemble an accordion fold mini book, layer, dry emboss, stamp, journal, fussy cut, using templates, color coordinate with your photos and punch. Honestly this is a scrapbook 101 class but let that not stop you from signing up because it is going to be a lot of fun and you will be leaving with a finished handmade project.

I decided to make a book of my elder son Arjun to capture a snapshot in time. I wanted to record his various activities, friends, teachers and interests.

Here are some photos of the example book that I made:
Below are the individual pages:

I took the above photo before filling in his height :) .... the final version will have it filled.

Below is the completed book. You can display it on a table at home or work.

In order to do this class, you will have to do some homework in advance. Here are some of the things you will have to do:
  • Think of a theme
  • Pick at least 6 photos corresponding to the theme. If you have more photos, it is okay, you can pick and chose in the class depending on the embellishments and colors and your mood.
  • The size of each page of the book is 5.5 inches in width and 4.25 inches in height. So a typical 6x4 photo will not fit in the page. Also if you have a big photo, you will not be able to do much embellishing. So try to get smaller photos developed or be ready to crop the photos you bring to the class into a smaller size. All of my photos are 2 x 3 inches. I used a software called Lightroom to get this size of photos.
  • Discuss your photos with me in advance so that I can be prepared
Here are things I will bring to the class:
  • Cardstock cut and scored to put the base of the accordion fold book together
  • Cardstock and patterned paper to embellish your books
  • My scraps
  • Some stickers
  • Punches
  • Stamps and ink pads
  • Some stickers
  • Paper cutters - ( I may not have enough of these depending on how many will sign up)
  • Silhouette cutting machine ( hopefully we won't be using this much)
  • Cuttlebug and folders used for embossing
  • Glue - ( I may not have enough of these depending on how many will sign up)
  • Kiwi Lane design templates
  • Pens
Here are the things I would like you to bring to the class:
  • Photos (of course)
  • Glue
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • eraser
  • pencil
  • pen
  • Paper trimmer if you have one
  • Stickers if you are clear about the theme
  • Any other embellishments you would like to add - buttons, brads, ribbons ( I have purposely kept my version devoid of any of these to keep it very simple and basic)
As of now the class will be offered on May 19th from 1P.M. to 4P.M (Sunday) at Evergreen School. I am hoping at least 5 people will sign up in order to make this effort worthwhile. I think I can handle a maximum of 10 people in the class. So try to sign up quickly if you are interested. If your child does not go to Evergreen school, send me an e-mail and I will add you to the list.

The cost of this class is $65 and of this $50 will go to Evergreen school and $15 will go to me to cover for the materials.
