Nov 28th Die cut challenge with SOUS

Happy Black Friday! Do you have major plans for shopping? I am not too good with crowds. I may just do some online shopping.

This is my last project as design team for SOUS. It has been a wonderful year and so much fun creating projects for them.

This weeks theme for the die cut challenge is 'Into The Woods'. Use die cuts that are trees, animals, tents .... Check out the SOUS design team projects to get more inspiration.

Here is my project:

I know this is a non seasonal layout. But for this theme, this was a suitable picture. This is a photo from our camping trip last summer. It was a fun adventure. Staying in a yurt is honestly best of both worlds. It was so comfortable and at the same time, we hung out and did a little cooking outside. The kids had a blast running all around, sitting by the campfire and making smores.

For the layout, I first designed my whole page in silhouette studio software. I then cut it out on a white cardstock. I backed the whole white cardstock with a kraft cardstock. I backed the circles below with water color paper and painted all the elements and stuck them on. I needed some color in my title as the bottom was colorful. So I finished it off with some enamel dots and a clip.

Here is a link to the die cuts:

Can't wait to see what you do with your projects. Do link em up at SOUS and play along.

I will miss being part of the design team with SOUS!

Have a great day!

SOUS NOV 21 Sketch challenge

Hi everyone! This is my last post as DT member for the SOUS sketch team. I had a great year with SOUS. It was a lot of fun and I met a lot of wonderful ladies. Here is the sketch for this week:

and here is my take on it:

This is a photo of my son dressed up little Krishna. Krishna is god in the Hindu mythology known for his naughty behavior. This suits Surya's personality completely. We had a late Diwali celebration at UCSB this year. A bunch of 4 and 5 year olds were dressed up as Gods and Goddesses from Hindu mythology and did a little act on the stage. The kids are so adorable.
I made all the crowns and some arm bands for this show with my silhouette and I had a bunch of gold and silver paper left after the project. I ended up punching the scraps with circle punches and cut some up into strips and used them on this project. The patterned paper and the die cut leaves are from the Walden Studio Calico kit.
Have a wonderful Friday! Hope to see your creations linked up to the SOUS blog.

Nov 7th sketch challenge with SOUS

Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween! Here is yet another Friday! Where does the time fly!!! Here is another sweet sketch from SOUS. It is a fun one.

Here is my take on it:

I used a photo of my son admiring the ocean. I made it more of a whimsical page just with the addition of the feather and the journaling. I added a quote a by Dr.Seuss, it's good advice for a person of any age.
I used up elements from a bunch of my studio calico kits that I collected over time. You can find the feather die cut here. The blue circle and yellow paper along the border are from the same cardstock. I just cut out the circle from the center of the cardstock and then stuck my white cardstock on the yellow base. I then stuck the circle on the white cardstock. I was very pleased to use both sides of this gorgeous cardstock by Dear Lizzy.
Hope you will join us and play along with us at SOUS. Just create a layout based on the sketch and upload it to the SOUS page.
Have a wonderful day!
